Would there be marked impovements in changing prop size and pitch?

Im thinking of changing from a 3 blade 14-1/2" x 19 pitch aluminum prop to a 4 blade 13-3/4"x 23 pitch stainless steel prop. This is on a skeeter fiberglass bass boat with a 140 horse Johnson. Could I expect any improvement in this change? I would hate to spend so much money on a new prop and be disappointed.

Re-propping is tricky business, unless you can find a place that allows "try-outs". That said, your conversion, to me, seems worth a try. With the 4 blade, you can expect more holeshot power, and the SS will improve positive cornering. Be careful, watch the tach!

Here is a link to a great little piece on OMC props, and all the variables affecting performance. Again, by reducing the diameter 3/4", increasing the pitch 4", and adding a blade, i feel you may only see an rpm variance of +- 200 rpm, but that is a guess, there really is no "magic formula".
